Humming along

Trying to nail focus on a small, spastic bee tested my patience.

My left knee is almost better. I only experience a little pain when I bend it, to where I can walk down the stairs using both legs! Before, I had to navigate those steps like I had a peg leg.

It still feels somewhat awkward to walk, as I can only bend my knee about 60% of its range without discomfort. Based on my progress, I should be fine for a light hike by this weekend.

In other news, I got my 55-200mm telephoto lens today! I made a few test photos from my backyard, of which the header image is one of them.

Here are a couple more:

The images were cropped by 100%. As I feared, 200mm isn’t enough reach for me. The extra 100mm from the 70-300mm would have allowed for cleaner images using the same crop.

Oh well, I can live with it for now. I will have to practice sneaking up on wildlife to get closer shots. At least, the lens will be nice to take with me on hikes for landscape photography and less skittish wildlife. I hope my leg heals soon so I can try it out.
