Mindmapping

I always considered myself to be a “pantser”, the type of writer that would start a writing task with little or no plan or outline. I just wasn’t much into pre-writing. Maybe it’s due to age, but I didn’t have the patience to do work before work. I just wanted to get it over with.

[There’s some innuendo with that last sentence that I could expand on, but I don’t want this post to go on for thousands of words.]

Now I want to experiment with pre-writing to see if I can improve my work. In comes Scapple. Made by the same folks that created Scrivener, it’s a mind mapping application that I enjoy using.

This blog post started out as a mind map!

There are a lot of apps like this one. The only reason why I chose Scapple is because I liked Scrivener. I am sure there are advantages to paying for this app at its full price, as opposed to the subscription-based pricing scheme of the other apps as well, but that was not a factor for me.

Anyway, that’s it for now. I’ll have more thoughts on the act of creating mind maps in a future post.
