I was writing a blog post a day for the entirety of 2022. That stopped because I didn’t want to punish myself anymore :P
Fiction Story 1 — Part 6
But four major streets also surrounded it. It was only a matter of time before someone who actually cared saw the fire and called the police.
Fiction Story 1 — Part 5
Greg stomped up to me and shoved my shoulder with his palm. “You didn’t have to follow me, alright? I didn’t need you to help me burn this tire. I let you come with me so you can practice this boy scout bullshit you read online, okay?”
Fiction Story 1 — Part 4
However, the fire burned underneath, as if refusing to be trapped. I watched the flame glow underneath the black fabric until it finally burned a hole through and setting the gown and the night alight.
Fiction Story 1 — Part 3
The smoke from the fire grew dark as it burned deeper into the rubber. I let the warm breeze from the fire and the cool breeze of the night dry the sweat from my hair.
Fiction Story 1 — Part 2
I said, “Hey, move out of the way, I’m going to throw more lighter fluid on it,” before squeezing a can of kerosene. Greg jumped back before the stream hit the flames. The fire stretched towards the orange sky.
Fiction Story 1 — Part 1
I learned to start a tire fire after college. I don’t remember all the details. What I remember is you can’t light it on fire with just a kerosene and a match. You need to burn kindling underneath to get the material hot and dry enough to catch fire — much like with wood or coal. Tires take ten minutes to burn. You’ll know it does when you see black smoke and the flames take the form of bright orange curtains.
Format change for May: Fiction Month
One solution that I had for this content rut is to go outside more and write about my experiences afterward. Upon further reflection, I don’t think that’s sustainable. I don’t have the time, nor the money, to explore my area every day — much less go on vacation to make content. So, I’m going to tap into the creative side, starting with fiction.
Well, it was a good try. This is the end, though.
